Innym interesującym zespołem jest Bajofondo, wcześniej Bajofondo Tango Club, na który składa się z artystów z Argentyny i Urugwaju. Zespół woli określać się jako „kolektyw” składający się z siedmiu muzyków i VJ-a, który zajmuje się wyświetlaniem obrazów w czasie koncertu. Liderem grupy jest Gustavo Santaolalla, argentyński muzyk, kompozytor muzyki filmowej i producent. Otrzymał dwie statuetki Oskara za najlepszą partyturę do filmów Brokeback Mountain w 2005 roku, i Babel w 2006.
Pierwsza płyta zespołu ukazała się w 2002 roku, jako rezultat eksperymentu studyjnego, trwającego dwa lata. Popularność płyty zachęciła muzyków do podjęcia regularnej działalności koncertowej.
Zespół ma charakterystyczny styl, który na początku zawierał elementy tanga, D&B, house’u, chill and trip-hopu. Zmiana nazwy ukazuje ich ewolucję: od grania mieszanki tanga i muzyki elektronicznej, do odkrywania mniej popularnych rodzimych rodzajów muzyki z dorzecza Rio de la Plata (jak np. milonga, czy candombe) i ich popularyzacji w nowoczesnej formie.

PART III: BAJOFONDO GROUP
Another interesting group is Bajofondo, formerly Bajofondo Tango Club, which is a South American music band consisting of eight artists from Argentina and Uruguay. The band prefers to refer to itself as a “collective”, consisting of eight members: seven musicians and one VJ who switches images along with the music. The leader of the group is Gustavo Santaolalla, an Argentinian musician, film composer and producer. He twice won an Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Original Score for the film music for Brokeback Mountain in 2005, and Babel in 2006.
The group’s first album, Bajofondo Tango Club, was released in 2002, the result of a studio experiment which had lasted two years. The popularity of the album encouraged Santaolalla to gather his musicians together and start regular concerts.
The group has a characteristic style. In the beginning it was consistent with elements of tango, electronic music, an innovative form of D&B, house, chill and trip-hop. The change of name shows the path of their musical evolution: from playing fusion of acoustic tango and electronic music, to discovering other, less popular kinds of native music of the Rio de la Plata basin (like milonga, or candombe) and their popularization in a modern form. “Listen everybody to the Bajofondo collective which has just come from the Rio de la Plata (region). They play candombre and hip hop, tango and rock & roll and when once it starts (to play) it doesn’t stop, it doesn’t stop” (a fragment of the lyrics from Olvidate, a song from the album Presente, 2013).
